About Treasure Corals

Treasure Corals is a family-owned coral farm and 3D-printing workshop in Vaughan, Ontario, just north of Toronto. We keep 145+ coral lineages, mostly Acropora, and every frag we sell was cut and grown out in our own systems for months, often years, before it was listed. Our reef accessories are designed and printed here too.

Who grows your coral

I'm Dmitry Tumanov. I've kept aquariums for more than 30 years and reef tanks for the last 20. Building a small piece of ocean at home still hasn't gotten old for me, and Treasure Corals grew out of that.

I was featured in the AquaIllumination Signature Series.

I also document the farm on YouTube: new lineages, grow-out racks, parameter trends, and what goes wrong as well as what works.

How we grow

Grown out, not imported and chopped

We don't import colonies to cut up and resell. Our founding colonies came from Canadian coral farms and licensed importers. Each one went through quarantine and dips before it joined the main system, and it has been growing here since. You can see the colonies your frags are cut from on Meet the Mothers.

Healed before it ships

After cutting, a frag stays on the rack until it has encrusted onto its plug and is growing steadily. We don't ship fresh cuts. That extra time is why our frags usually settle in quickly.

Water you can check yourself

Our water chemistry and lighting are logged continuously, and the numbers are public on our live parameter dashboard. Every coral listing also shows the 90-day averages of the system its mother colony lives in. Light schedules are on our lighting page.

The dashboard runs on AquaticLog, the aquarium-tracking web and mobile app I built. We use it to run the farm.

What you'll receive

There are two kinds of coral listings on the store:

  • Strain listings show the mother colony and a typical frag from that lineage under our lighting. You get a frag of comparable size and color. Before it ships, we send you a photo or video of your actual frag.
  • WYSIWYG pieces are one-of-a-kind corals. The piece in the photo is the exact coral you receive.

Color in your tank will depend on your lighting, nutrients, and flow. More on what our corals look like.

Shipping and pickup

  • Greater Toronto Area: same-day courier or pickup from the farm. No carrier transit at all.
  • Across Canada: FedEx Priority Overnight, Monday to Thursday. We pack minutes before the 3 pm pickup, so most corals spend less than 21 hours in the bag. Heat packs go in when it's cold. Covered by our live-arrival guarantee, and coral orders over $350 ship free.
  • 3D-printed gear: ships across North America and internationally. Live coral ships within Canada only.

3D-printed reef gear

We design and print our own light visors, test-kit caddies, and low-profile frag racks. Most of them started as fixes for problems on our own tanks.

What you can expect from us

Health first. Quarantined broodstock, a pest-free grow-out system, and no frag leaves until it's fully healed.

Straight answers. If a coral is finicky or a product has limits, we'll tell you before you buy.

Help, even if you buy elsewhere. Questions about your tank are always welcome.

FAQ

Do you import corals?

No. We don't import colonies for resale. Our founding colonies came from Canadian coral farms and licensed importers, and every frag we sell was cut and grown out in our own systems.

Will my frag look exactly like the photo?

If it's a WYSIWYG piece, yes: you get the exact coral in the photo. On strain listings, the photo shows a typical frag from the same lineage, and we send you a photo or video of your actual frag before it ships.

What corals do you focus on?

Acropora, from beginner-friendly to expert-level. We also grow Montipora, Euphyllia, chalices, and other stony corals. Our goal is to build the most complete Acropora collection in Canada.

How do you ship corals in Canada?

By FedEx Priority Overnight, packed right before pickup and usually delivered by noon the next day. The full process is on our shipping page.
